Roxburgh écrit Agave cantala en 1814 (Hort. bengal., nom. nud.) et Agave cantula en 1832 (Fl. ind., 2:167, nom. illeg.). GRIN considère que ce dernier nom est le basionyme. Mais il faudrait alors modifier les noms d'auteurs.
