Le nom Pouteria robusta (Mart. & Eichler ex Miq.) Eyma (1936) (synonyme de Pouteria cuspidata (A.DC.) Baehni (1942), qui désigne une autre espèce, n'est pas disponible.
GRIN et Plant List considèrent que ce taxon est conspécifique à Pouteria pierrei (A. Chev.) Baehni (1942), dans lequel ils l'incluent.
