|texte= Planted as drought and salt resistant hedge plant in date orchards in Iraq. Popular as shade and alley tree in India (Uttar Pradesh, Bengal and Bombay) and used as host tree for lac insects. Also frequently cultivated for fodder production. The juicy aril of the seed is used for fizzy drink production. Pulverized seeds are also a component of curry. The bark, containing up to 40% tannin, is used as tanning agent and dye in India and for glue production as well. | |||
