Usages
In many tropical and subtropical regions cultivated as ornamental or as curiosity but also as medicinal plant (e.g. in Germany in Silesia ca. 1600). In Myanmar also planted for its edible shoots. The seeds deliver an edible oil. In India the wild plants are used as Ayurvedic drug.
