JAMBOL. Tropics of Asia. The black, juicy, sweetish-acid fruit is an esculent[1]. In Cochin China the young leaves are put in salads. They have the smell of cumin and are not unpleasant[2]. In Ceylon the berries are called jambol. Sturtevant, Notes on edible plants, 1919.
