×Chitalpa tashkentensis T. S. Elias & Wisura (1991)

Cultivars

At least two cultivars are known. The species Catalpa bignonioides doesn't seem to be involved, according to Li et al.

History

These hybrids result from a work on Catalpa phenology done by Nikolai Fyodorovich Rusanov in the 1960's et the botanical garden of Tashkent (Uzbekistan) (Rusanov, 1964, 1969). Robert Hebb from the New York Botanical Garden introduced two clones in 1977 in tne USA and distributed them. This is the unique origin of the two known cultivars.
