Indonesia (Ambon).

Uses

The tannin-yielding bark is used for toughening fishing nets. The wood is occasionally used.

Observations

A small tree, up to ca. 16 m tall. Nets are dipped in a decoction of the bark, which is often mixed with the bark of mangrove trees. Possibly this species belongs in the genus Syzygium Gaertner.
