Distribution
Borneo, widely distributed but rare.
Uses
The fruit is small but sweet.
Observations
- Tree, up to 35 m tall.
- Leaves elliptic to obovate-oblong, 8-18 cm × 3-7 cm, coriaceous.
- Stamens 4, 1 fertile.
- Fruit a broadly ovoid to ellipsoid drupe, ca. 3 cm × 2 cm, black, flesh pale pink.
In primary lowland forest, often in freshwater swamp forest or inundated areas, up to 300 m altitude. Flowering in October-November, fruiting in March-October, main season in May.
