Central and South America. Cultivated in Panama, Guyana and Java.

Uses

The fruit is edible and tasty.

Observations

• Climbing herb with whitish-pinkish flowers of 10 cm diameter.
• Fruit a globose berry, 3-6 cm in diameter.

Occurring up to 1000 m altitude.
