Histoire
Usages
In India, Java, the Philippines, and Cuba cultivated. Planted as an ornamental and as shade tree in coffee and cacao plantations. The species is very suitable for hedgerow intercropping. The bark furnishes a yellowish brown dye, which serves the dyeing of cotton and batik products. The bark is also used in tannery and for medicinal purposes. The twigs are utilized as fodder. The wood is used for building of houses and boats or the manufacture of furniture. The dye, derived from the heart wood, is applied in textile industry.
