Mais Linné lui-même a changé ce sens en 1755, et l'exemplaire d'herbier de l' ''Hortus Cliffortianus'' correspond bien au sens de "camomille", et c'est ainsi qu'il a été typifié. Le nom scientifique a fait l'objet d'une longue confusion, parce que la description et la synonymie de Linné en 1753 correspondent largement à Tripleurospermum maritimum subsp. inodorum (L.) Appleq., la matricaire inodore. Mais Linné lui-même a changé ce sens en 1755, et l'exemplaire d'herbier de l' Hortus Cliffortianus correspond bien au sens de "camomille", et c'est ainsi qu'il a été typifié. (Applequist, 2003)
