Flora Batava, 1822
Le capron a été domestiqué au XVIe siècle en Allemagne et en Wallonie. Il a été cultivé jusqu'au XVIIIe siècle, et ne se trouve plus aujourd'hui qu'en collection. Son goût vineux ou musqué ne plaisait pas à tout le monde, et l'espèce étant dioïque, seule la moitié des individus donne des fruits.
