Biologie

Classification

Les espèces de Fragaria forment une série polyploïde dont le nombre chromosomique de base est x = 7.

  • Diploïdes (2n = 2x = 14) :
  • Tétraploïdes (2n = 4x = 28) : est de l’Asie
  • Hexaploïde (2n = 6x = 42) :
    • Fragaria moschata, seule espèce hexaploïde connue (Europe et ouest de l’Asie, cultivé au XVIe-XVIIIe siècles)
  • Octoploïdes (2n = 8x = 56) :
  • Décaploïde (2n = 10x = 70) :
    • Fragaria vescana, croisement en culture entre Fragaria ananassa et Fragaria vesca
